Pastor Susan’s Egypt Journal
2026.03.08
We give thanks to God for His grace, as He has heard our prayers and faithfully led SOWIM’s Egypt short-term mission team to complete their ministry safely and smoothly. Each team member returned home with hearts full of blessing and harvest. Some lingered a little longer in Egypt for sightseeing and cultural exploration, now enjoying the beauty and cuisine along the banks of the Nile. 😉💝🌹
Meanwhile, Annie, Raymond, and I have transitioned to the next leg of our mission trip. Yesterday, we arrived safely in Ghana to meet up with SOWIM Board Member, Peter, for the start of our ministry here.
Today is the Lord’s Day. I was invited to share the Sunday message at ICGC Adonai Temple in Accra, the capital of Ghana. During the service, our team experienced a worship gathering filled with joy, passion, and thunderous drumming—so vibrant that it felt like a foretaste of the future heavenly worship, where people from every nation, tribe, and language will gather in unified praise. How glorious that will be!
This afternoon, we traveled to a rural church to begin the first pastors’ training workshop in Ghana. This is a church plant of ICGC. After the workshop. the youth pastor of ICGC Adonai Temple, Pastor Wisdom, one of last year’s SOWIM scholarship recipients, took us to see the planned site for a future school project nearby. In a context where government resources are limited, the church has taken on the responsibility with love—providing education, literacy, and learning opportunities for children, making a profound impact on society.
As I write this reflection, Pastor Eric, the senior pastor of ICGC, and his coworkers are accompanying us on a 4.5-hour bumpy journey to the city where tomorrow’s second pastors’ training workshop will be held.
Along the way, banana trees, mango trees, and palm trees dot the lush green landscape, a striking contrast to the deserts of Egypt. Yet within this natural beauty, we also witness the poverty of the Ghanaian people—such a sharp contrast that it stirs deep reflection in our hearts.
Looking back to the founding vision of SOWIM, God gave us this mission:
“giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.” (Isaiah 55:10)
We pray that the people living in this land of abundant natural resources may not only overcome material poverty, but also receive the bread of life from heaven. May they root their faith deeply in God’s Word and experience His abundant blessings—For the nation whose God is the LORD is blessed; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD. 🙏🙏🙏
