Pastor Susan’s Egypt Journal
2026.03.02
Our journey began on Thursday morning as we departed from Cairo. By the afternoon, we found ourselves enjoying an unexpectedly delightful lunch arranged by Pastor Basim along the banks of the Nile River. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the team shared laughter and fellowship—a memory that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
Before sunset, we arrived at New El Minya Evangelical Church, where God allowed us to witness the church’s steadfast faith, courage, and perseverance. In a joyful and passionate time of worship, we offered praise and thanksgiving to the Lord.
Friday proved to be a momentous and busy day. We held two SOWIM Discipleship Bible Study workshops—one in El Minya during the morning and another in Assiut in the evening—specifically designed for local pastors and ministry coworkers.
Each pastor received an Arabic edition of the 1 Chronicles Bible Study Guide. They were divided into small groups and, following the study guide format, read and discussed Scripture together. The enthusiastic participation of the Egyptian pastors and coworkers far exceeded our expectations. We thank the Holy Spirit for His presence, which brought unity and joy among the churches throughout the workshops.
After the workshops, many participants expressed strong appreciation for the SOWIM’s Bible study materials, affirming that the interpretation was accurate, the format was easy to use, and the content was practical and relevant. Our team was deeply moved, excited, and grateful to be among them and to personally witness God’s wonderful work through this short-term mission in Egypt.
We believe that the seeds of God’s Word planted by this year’s Egypt mission team in this land of rich history will be cultivated and watered by God Himself. May more Christians be rooted firmly in the foundation of Scripture, rely on the revelation of the Holy Spirit, and become salt and light through love and faith, so that the gospel of Jesus Christ may flourish once again throughout Egypt.
