Dear brothers and sisters, Greetings and peace to you in Christ! In the hymn “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” the lyrics realistically describe our need for Jesus throughout all seasons of life: “What a friend we have in Jesus all our sins and grieves to bear/What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” Jesus says that He comes for the sinners. When we are found in Him, He tells us, “I no longer call you servants…Instead, I have called you friends.” (John 15:15) Jesus Christ is our almighty Triune God embodied, yet He esteems and calls us sinners His friends—how marvelous His gracious favor is! In the book of Esther, the Israelites were sinners under the favor and grace of God like us. Though they once went astray and turned away from God, when they faced life-threatening trials and cried out to Him in bondage, God used Esther and her courageous acts to save the entire people. Miraculously. This same message of God’s amazing salvation will be preached to people in Taiwan and shared through SOW’s short-term summer mission team this year. Together we have one mind: sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ—His salvation, peace, and blessings. We are full of hope and expectant to see God’s saving grace manifested in this land, touching and transforming those who have never heard of the gospel. The scripture in Esther 4:14 says, “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” SOW’s short-term mission team is determined to go out boldly because “who knows but that we have come to our position as Christ followers for such as time to preach the gospel as this?” On May 18th, we had our first mission orientation and training session. The next training before the team head to Taiwan will be on June 14th. SOW will be sending mission teams to Taipei, Taichung, Miaoli, Kaohsiung, and Pintung to hold six English Bible camps in these cities. We will also be using SOW’s Book of Esther Bible Study Set as the blueprint for our programs. Through videos, storytelling, games, and worship, we will witness to students and their parents how Jesus is not only our dearest friend but also our Savior who died on the cross to redeem us from our sins. Jesus says in John 15:13, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Immediately after that, he goes on to say, “You are my friends if you do what I command you.” Dear brothers and sisters, Jesus calls us friends and willingly gives up His life for us. Indeed, He demonstrates to us “what a friend we have in Jesus” by his action. Are we willing to follow His commands to show that we’re truly His friends? Given the Great Commission, we are to share the good news with all nations. Even if you can’t join our short-term mission this summer, would you be open to prayerfully（Please click here） and financially sow into the mission?（Please click here）1 Samuel 30:24 tells us that on the battlefield “the share of the one who goes down into the battle shall be the same as the share of the one who stays by the baggage; they shall share alike.” Thus, according to God’s principles, your labor through prayer and financial giving will be rewarded just as much as the frontline mission team members who go out to fight for the lost souls! Jesus says in John 14:21, “They who have my commandments and keep them are those who love me; and those who love me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.” I’d like to invite you to boldly join in the Great Commission through prayer, giving, and action. I pray that Jesus will reveal to you the power of His kingdom and the abundance of eternal life and bring you ever lasting joy and peace! In Him, Susan Chen President, Founder & Lifetime volunteer Spring of Water International Ministries Support for the 2019 Taiwan Mission
